Housed in a small but modern facility, Bermuda International Airport (BDA) operates daily flights to a variety of major US cities as well as to international destinations including Canada and the United Kingdom. The airport also goes by the name of L. F. Wade International and stands just 16 km / 10 miles north-east of nearby Hamilton and on the westerly side of St. David's Island, directly south of St. George's Island and alongside Whalebone Bay and the Ferry Reach channel.
Hamilton Bermuda Airport contains a compact single two-storey terminal, which is easy to navigate and boasts a good signage system. The airport has some basic monetary services available such as ATMs and a bureau de change, and is presently handling around one million passengers annually.

There are currently no business or conference facilities at the Hamilton Bermuda Airport. However, the Wyndham Bermuda Resort and Spa is within driving distance of the airport and offers various business services. Various minibuses are available to transport passengers to Hamilton and other prominent locations, and should be pre-booked, while many passengers simply prefer to use the readily available taxis.
Hamilton Bermuda International Airport (BDA) Information: History and Facilities
Created at the beginning of the 1940s and used as a base for the US army and air force, Bermuda Airport was then known as Kindley Field. Construction of the airport involved filling in various waterways, to connect St. David's Island to the larger mass of West Bermuda. Following the end of World War II, the airfield was taken over by the island's local government and became the Civil Air Terminal.
After further use by the US Air Force until 1995, Hamilton's Bermuda Airport became an important hub for the island's tourism and was recently renamed as the L. F. Wade International Airport. The airport is at is busiest during the high summer season, between June and August, when it handles around 300 arriving flights daily. Although Bermuda Airport originally had three separate runways, only one remains in use today.
The recently updated shops at the airport can be found in the US departures lounge and also in the check-in concourse area, providing the opportunity to purchase everything from magazines to jewellery. For refreshments, the Island Coffee and Bistro offers a range of pastries and snacks, while the Sand Bar is a good place to enjoy exotic cocktails with a taste of Bermuda.

Bermuda's capital Hamilton is a popular tourist destination, renowned for its beautiful pink sand beaches, crystal clear waters and spectacular coral reefs. There are plenty of attractions for visitors here, including Fort Hamilton, from where you can get some fantastic views of the island. The old capital of St. George is of particular importance and a centre of historical interest, founded in 1612.
All of the main sightseeing is simple to reach from Hamilton Bermuda Airport (BDA). Other notable attractions include Hamilton Town Square, which still displays some of the ancient instruments of punishment that were used in years gone by. More history can be seen in period buildings scattered across the island, while natural beauty is widely available around the entire coastline, as well as many inland areas.
